  1. Preheat oven to 175°C (160°C fan-forced). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine rolled oats, flour, sugar, and bicarbonate of soda.
  3. In a separate bowl, stir together golden syrup and boiling water. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  4. Add softened butter and chopped almonds, and mix until combined.
  5. Roll the dough into 16 balls and place on the prepared baking tray. Flatten with a fork.
