Preparation Method Steps:

  1. Preheat oven to 190°C (170°C fan-forced). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together water, vegetable oil, sesame oil, and vanilla extract.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Scoop out a heaping tablespoon of batter and place it on the prepared baking sheet. Use the back of a spoon to spread it into a thin circle, about 3 inches in diameter.
  6. Bake for 6-8 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  7. Remove the cookies from the oven and immediately place a fortune paper in the center of each one.
  8. Fold the cookies in half, then in half again to create a triangle shape.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool completely before serving.
