  1. Cream together the butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  2. Add eggs one by one and mix well after each addition.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture and mix until just combined.
  5. Stir in the chocolate chunks or chips and cherries.
  6. Drop cookie dough by rounded spoonful onto an ungreased baking sheet, leaving some space in between for spreading.
