Preparation Method Steps:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Brown the ground beef and Italian sausage in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain off excess fat.
  3. Add the onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened.
  4. Stir in the tomato sauce, tomato paste, and Italian seasoning. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes.
  5. In a large bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, and 1 lb of the mozzarella cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Spread 1/2 cup of the tomato sauce mixture into the bottom of a greased 13x9-inch baking dish.
  7. Layer with 4 sheets of lasagna noodles, then 1/2 of the meat mixture, then 1/2 of the ricotta mixture.

  9. Pour the remaining tomato sauce mixture over the noodles.
  10. Arrange the sliced mozzarella cheese on top.
  11. Drizzle with melted butter.
  12. Bake for 60-75 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  13. Let stand for 15 minutes before serving.
