Preparation Method Steps:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and cardamom.
  2. Make a well in the center and pour in the milk and egg. Stir until a soft dough forms.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Roll out the dough to a thickness of 1/8 inch (3mm).
  5. Cut the dough into diamond shapes or any desired shape using a pastry cutter or knife.
  6. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large saucepan to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Fry the Fattigmann in batches for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
