Preparation Method Steps:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook rice according to package directions.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Drain excess grease.
  5. Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, oregano, and basil. Bring to a simmer and cook until sauce has thickened, about 10 minutes.
  6. Spread 1/2 cup of rice evenly over the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
