Preparation Method Steps:

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Remove the chicken from the packaging and pat dry with paper towels.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, thyme, and smoked paprika. Mix well.
  4. Season the chicken inside and out with the spice mixture.
  5. Open the beer or soda can, remove about 1/3 of the liquid, and discard.
  6. Place the chicken upright on the can.
  7. Transfer the chicken to a roasting pan and roast for 60-75 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  8. Let the chicken rest for 10 minutes before carving and serving.
