Preparation Method Steps:

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. Season the pork shoulder with salt and pepper. Sear it in a large skillet over medium-high heat with the olive oil until browned on all sides.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the onion, green bell pepper, red bell pepper, ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, barbecue sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Place the pork shoulder in a slow cooker and pour the sauce over it. Cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the meat is tender and falls apart.
  5. Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and stir in any remaining sauce.
