Preparation Method Steps:

  1. Preheat smoker to 225°F (107°C).
  2. Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Rub the mixture generously all over the ribs.
  4. Place the ribs on the smoker grate and cook for 3 hours, or until the meat has a slight resistance when pierced with a fork.
  5. In a small saucepan, heat the apple cider vinegar and BBQ sauce over medium heat. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes, or until thickened.
  6. Baste the ribs with the vinegar-BBQ sauce mixture every 30 minutes during the last hour of cooking.
  7. Remove the ribs from the smoker when the meat is tender and pulls away from the bone.
