  1. Remove the chicken from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  2. Rinse the chicken inside and out and pat it dry with paper towels.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper. Rub the mixture all over the chicken, under the skin, and in the cavity.
  4. Open the beer can and pour out about half of it. Season the inside of the can with salt and pepper.
  5. Place the chicken upright on the beer can, making sure it is secure.
  6. Place the chicken in a roasting pan and roast in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C).
  7. Let the chicken rest for 10 minutes before carving and serving.
