Preparation Method Steps:

  1. Wash and dry apples. Remove stems and insert wooden sticks in the center of each apple.
  2. In a large saucepan, combine sugar, water, corn syrup, and food coloring (if using). Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sugar dissolves and mixture comes to a boil.
  3. Stop stirring and continue boiling until mixture thickens and turns a light amber color, about 15-20 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in walnuts (if using).
  5. Dip each apple into the hot sugar mixture, rotating until fully coated.
