Preparation Method Steps:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Place the pear slices on a baking sheet and toss them with 2 tablespoons of melted butter. Sprinkle with granulated sugar and set aside.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the remaining melted butter, brown sugar, coffee, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, and salt.
  4. Place 4 sheets of phyllo dough on a work surface and brush each sheet with the butter-sugar mixture.
  5. Arrange the pear slices on top of the phyllo dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
  6. Fold the edges of the phyllo dough over the pears to create a rough crust.
  7. Brush the crust with the egg yolk and sprinkle with the remaining brown sugar mixture.
  8. Repeat the process with the remaining phyllo dough and pear slices to create another galette.
