  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine apple slices, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Toss to coat.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and 1 tsp sugar. Add butter and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to work it into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add 1 tbsp cold water at a time and mix until the dough just comes together. Form into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
