  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. Add warm milk and softened butter to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. While the dough is rising, soak the raisins and cranberries in hot water for 15 minutes. Drain and pat dry.
  6. Combine the raisins, mixed nuts, cranberries, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves in a small bowl.
