Preparation Method Steps:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and sausage. Drain any excess grease.
  3. Add the onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened.
  4. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, water, oregano, basil, sugar, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes.
  5. In a large bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, cottage cheese, Parmesan cheese, and 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese. Mix well.
  6. Spread 1 cup of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
