  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg yolks one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
  6. Stir in the grated mountain apples.
