Preparation Method Steps:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and pork. Drain off excess fat.
  3. Add the onion, garlic, crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, oregano, basil, sugar, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
  4. Spread 1 cup of the sauce into the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  5. Layer 6 lasagna noodles over the sauce.
  6. Top with half of the ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella cheese, and half of the remaining sauce.
  7. Repeat layers.
  8. Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese on top.
  9. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  10. Uncover and bake for an additional 30-45 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and the lasagna is hot and bubbly.
  11. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
