  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let stand for 5 minutes, or until the yeast is foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Add the softened butter and use your fingers to work it into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add the egg and the yeast mixture to the flour mixture and mix until just combined.
